Stewartby Water Sports Club is one of Bedfordshire’s best places to get out on the water, based around a large 200-acre lake in the Marston Vale. The club brings together sailing, powerboating, water skiing, wakeboarding and angling, making it a particularly interesting destination for anyone who enjoys watersports or wants to try something new.
Sailing is a major part of the club, with opportunities ranging from relaxed social sailing to competitive racing. The club is affiliated with the Royal Yachting Association and provides training for beginners as well as more experienced sailors, including youth sailing programmes.
For those looking for something faster, the powerboating and wakesports sections offer a very different experience. Members can take part in powerboat activities and racing, while the watersports section offers water skiing, wakeboarding, kneeboarding and monoskiing, with coaching and skills development available.
Angling is another major part of the club, with designated fishing swims around the lake as well as opportunities to fish from small boats. The combination of different watersports means Stewartby is much more than simply a sailing club, with a broad community built around enjoying the lake.
The club also has a strong community atmosphere. It is volunteer-run and designed around participation, with members able to use facilities including the clubhouse, changing rooms, showers, bar and galley. There are also organised events and social activities throughout the year, creating a friendly environment alongside the sporting side of the club.
For visitors to Bedfordshire, Stewartby Water Sports Club offers something quite different from the area’s traditional attractions. If you enjoy being active, spending time outdoors or simply have an interest in life on the water, it is a great local place to discover. Taster sessions and arranged visits are available for people who want to experience the club before getting involved more fully.
Whether you are an experienced sailor, keen angler, watersports enthusiast or complete beginner, Stewartby Water Sports Club offers the chance to enjoy one of Bedfordshire’s most distinctive lakeside sporting destinations.
