Woburn Safari Park is one of Bedfordshire’s biggest family attractions and is around 15 miles from Bedford, making it an easy day trip from the town. Set across more than 360 acres of parkland, it offers the chance to see a wide variety of exotic and endangered animals in large, natural-looking surroundings.
The main attraction is the Road Safari, where you drive your own car through large animal reserves and can see species including lions, tigers, giraffes, rhinos, elephants, bears, zebras and monkeys. You can complete the circuit more than once, giving you the opportunity to see the animals at different points during your visit.
There is plenty to do once you’ve parked up too. The Foot Safari features walk-through areas and animal habitats, with keeper talks and demonstrations providing opportunities to learn more about the animals. Families can also enjoy the park’s play areas and attractions, including the Great Woburn Railway and indoor soft play.
With the safari drive, animal encounters, play areas and large outdoor setting included as part of admission, Woburn Safari Park can easily fill a full day. It’s a particularly good choice for families looking for something a little different from a traditional zoo visit, while its location makes it one of the easiest major wildlife attractions to reach from Bedford.
