Such a lovely little find in Great Denham! Cafe Dhaba is small, cute and cosy, with a really warm, family-centred atmosphere. We felt welcomed from the moment we walked in.
What really stood out was how accommodating they were with our daughter, happily adapting the menu for her without any fuss. It’s those thoughtful little touches that make such a difference when eating out as a family.
A genuinely welcoming place with a personal feel. We’ll definitely be back and would highly recommend it to other families!
I went to Cade Dhaba last night and really enjoyed it. It feels a little different from your typical Indian restaurant as soon as you sit down. The food was served on stainless-steel plates, with stainless-steel bowls and cups, which I thought was a really nice touch. It gives the place that authentic dhaba feel rather than the more formal restaurant presentation you often get.
One of the staff members explained that stainless steel is traditionally used across India because it’s durable, easy to clean and doesn’t retain flavours or smells. There’s also a long-standing belief around stainless-steel tableware helping to preserve the natural flavour of food and providing a clean, hygienic surface for serving. Whatever your personal view on that, you certainly couldn’t fault the presentation and there wasn’t even a fingerprint in sight not to mention the 5-star food hygiene rating as well!
The newly updated menu itself was a great new upgrade. I went expecting a fairly traditional Indian menu, but they also offer Indo-Chinese fusion food – Hakka Style. So alongside the Indian dishes, there are Chinese-influenced dishes with that distinctive Indo-Chinese approach. It’s a really interesting combination and gives you plenty of choice if you fancy something a little different.
Overall, I really enjoyed last night’s meal. The stainless-steel plates, bowls and cups add to the authentic atmosphere, the Thalis are a great way to sample a variety of dishes, and the Indo-Chinese Hakka-style options make the menu much more interesting than your standard Indian restaurant.
Definitely somewhere I’d go back to — particularly when I fancy something a bit different from the usual Indian takeaway or restaurant.
