Box End Park is a fantastic destination for anyone who likes to combine the outdoors with a bit of adventure. Located in the Bedfordshire countryside, the park covers around 100 acres and is centred around two spring-fed lakes, creating a setting where you can spend the day getting active, trying something new or simply enjoying the lakeside surroundings.
There is a particularly good choice of watersports. The giant inflatable Aqua Park is one of the main attractions, giving visitors the chance to tackle floating obstacles, climb, jump, balance and splash their way around the course. It is aimed at children aged six and over and makes a great option for families, groups and celebrations during the warmer months.
If you’re looking for something more skill-based, Box End Park’s five-tower cable system provides opportunities to try wakeboarding and kneeboarding. Beginners can take introductory sessions with tuition, while more experienced riders can use the cable to practise and develop their skills. The park also has a range of features on the cable course for riders who want to progress beyond the basics.
Stand-up paddleboarding offers a different way to experience the water. Visitors can book an introductory session with equipment and tuition, hire a board for independent paddling or try the SUP Paddle Park, where inflatable obstacles add an extra challenge. It’s a good choice if you want something active without the intensity of wakeboarding.
Open-water swimming is available for swimmers who want to train or experience swimming outside a pool. The spring-fed lakes provide designated swimming sessions, with lifeguard supervision and facilities including changing areas, showers and lockers. The venue also runs open-water confidence sessions for people making the transition from pool swimming to open water.
Experienced waterskiers can make use of the purpose-built Northern Lake, which has a slalom course and boat tow facilities. Sessions include one-to-one coaching, making it particularly suited to skiers who already have experience and want to work on their technique.
